Blue, blue, blue

This will be one of those not-fandom posts I litter here once in a blue moon. (Blue! Everything’s so blue.)

Some of these are from forever ago. I’m horrible at keeping up with photos.

Here are some tunes to listen to:

Photography is a lonely hobby, ain’t it?

Another weekend is over

I took these photos with my Nikon FM10 at the end of 2010, and didn’t get around to scanning the prints until now. Ummmmm yeah.

I have another roll from 2011 that I didn’t even develop yet. I don’t even know where to get photographs developed anymore, it’s such a dead art form. Committing to film photography is a huge labor of love (and lots and lots of money). I don’t know how anyone does it.

When I first got my FM10, I made Melissa sit with me on the phone for an hour to walk me through the camera, because it was my first film camera. My first ever roll was disastrous, these are some of the better shots.

Once the weather gets nicer, I promise I’ll make an attempt to find a film place to get my other roll developed (shots from China from two years ago! #fml) and to take more photos.

In the meantime, here’s a happier-weather-ish kind of song.

And here’s a cover I like just as much.

Weekend’s over

Wintery mix

Every Saturday I make a lonnnnnnng walk after I run errands, instead of taking the train. I picked this habit up in about April of last year, when the weather started getting really nice, and kept it up pretty much every Saturday until a couple of months ago.

Getting from point A to point B takes me about an hour, but it’s one of the best hours of my week. New York is so noisy, and I appreciate the reprieve from busyness. The neighborhood I walk through is pretty residential, so it’s always really quiet and peaceful. I pass maybe 15 people at max during those walks.

Every time, I put my iPod library on shuffle and start truckin’. It’s a successful walk if I can make it through the hour and get both “Doushite” and “Stand By U” on shuffle. Today, “Hurricane Venus” came on and I was thinking to myself, “Hmm, I’d prefer to listen to the live version of this instead…” so I skipped it. Skipped the next song too, and then voila, the live version of “Hurricane Venus” came on. Love when that happens.

The things I get out of these walks: 1) fresh air, 2) blue skies when possible, and 3) iPod music study time. Case in point: in the M version of “Two Moons,” there is one aberrant sound on the recording a second after one of Tao’s verses that isn’t there on the K version after one of Chanyeol’s. It drives me bonkers every time I hear it now. I hope you guys can find it. And if you can’t because you’re not a CRAZY PERSON, but it drives you nuts that you can’t find it, you can thank my long walks.

It was so cold today that I was tearing and sniffling like a crying lunatic. I also had to whack myself repeatedly in my thighs because they were starting to go numb. But it was still an awesome hour.

(Photo not from today. First-day-post-snow in the city is gross. City during snowfall is not.)

Already end of January

This blogging once-a-month thing is awesome. Not. Sorry, I’ve been an awful blogger the last half year. My life hasn’t been very exciting and it’s been very cold. These two things definitely correlate somehow.

I really like the idea of me wearing hats, but I don’t think I’m much of a hat person. So I keep buying interesting hats, and they keep sitting in my closet. Look at that hat though. I bet you’re jealous. Once it stops being 6 degrees, maybe I’ll whip it out. (Last time I wore a wool hat, it BLEW OFF MY HEAD in the train station. Man, chasing that down was embarrassing.)

I tell myself to stop getting earrings, but it’s a habit that never really goes away. The other day I was waiting for a friend and I “accidentally” went into this store and then “accidentally” bought these earrings and “accidentally” spent money I shouldn’t have. Oh well, such is life.

This post is so exciting!!1! Be back in another month.
