One of my favorite songs in the universe.

Best of Music 2010

“You’ve probably heard or read, many times over, that the world of music is a fragmented one–all of us paying attention to our own personal scenes, streams, and cubbyholes, barely aware of what’s happening in the next one over. So when December rolls around, we have this annual problem: It’s harder and harder to say what defined the year. It depends on what music you follow, which magazines or websites you look at, whom you talk to, and how your ears work…

That said, every December, when it comes time to make these kinds of lists, it feels steadily harder to say anything authoritative about which records were the ‘most important. The best any one person can say is ‘This was my year.'”

I didn’t like this song when I first listened to it, but now I love it. I also can’t stand Drake’s verse in that song, and was so happy to discover a Drake-less version on the album.

I’ve definitely listened to this song over 100 times since the album was released on Monday. It’s like a disease. I don’t have much to say about it on top of all the things I’ve already said, but I’m kinda ambivalent about Jino at the moment. There’s nothing particularly spectacular about his voice or his singing. I’m pretty sure this is an SM ploy to give Jino some attention before he debuts with his own group, but his voice kinda reminds me of Key’s. They’re good singers, but nothing spectacular about the way they sing that makes me stop and really listen, y’know?

And I’m sorry, but I’m gonna have to punch someone the next time I read any remarks about the “showboat-y adlibs.” Please STFU. These kinds of notes are not unheard of in SM songs, especially not in Yoo Young-jin’s productions.

Pretty cute:

(eminem – run rabbit run)

i’ll be back baby, i just gotta beat this clock
fuck this clock, i’mma make him eat this watch
don’t believe me watch, i’m gonna win this race
i’m gonna come back and rub my shit in his face

(eminem – love the way you lie (featuring rihanna))

next time you show restraint
you don’t get another chance
life ain’t no nintendo game
but you lied again
now you get to watch out the window
guess that’s why they call it window pane

(“love the way you lie” is a really tricky song but complicated matters aside, em’s rap is really great.)
