Funny I rather thought throwing unprepared Koreans guys into M was done rather deliberately And that you are underestimating the intelligence of both the Chinese population and SM Entertainment. Mainly because there is no way Chinese population considers Xiumin and Chen to be Chinese, nor do they think SM Entertainment is selling them as Chinese and failing, language the main thing to revoke that. You just don’t think a company is trying to sell two Korean guys as Chinese when they don’t even know how to speak the language. Chinese people would be very stupid to believe this idea was in the works, and SM would be equally stupid to think it would work.

Which comes to the next point. Chinese population doesn’t think EXO-M as a whole is trying to be Chinese, and if they do, they also know it’s not working. Most interviewers, news reporters and what not refer to them as a Korean group, so it extends beyond Minseok and Jongdae and include the actual china-line.

I think they threw Jongdae and MInseok like that so that the Chinese population would be greeted by “we are Korean but we love China” type of concept. Or, that’s what I would have liked to think if it were not for EXO-M being back in Korea and only traveling to China when they have to.

I agree that for exo m korean’s member, to debut on china would probably sucks. I kinda think that the reason sm put those two in exo m is also because in certain sense, sm want to stress that exo is kpop, not cpop, so in a way sm is the one who has the complete control/power towards exo m. rather than letting them debut with all chinese members. Idk, that’s how I feel. And I kinda curious of what xiumin and chen thinks about having debut in china. You know, they can refuse if they don’t like it. or not. Idk.

Lol~ Yah, Sehun is not singing, only mumbling, Chanyeol is acutally mouthing at some parts, but I’m quite sure he is mouthing the Korean version, cos his “haji anikka” is very obvious~ lol~ speaking of which, it’s a nightmare we are probably never gonna have any super HD videos from Exo-M during song performances… so far Exo-M’s song performances vids all sucks big time, even from official sites like Youku~ horrible camera work adding to the already horrible quality…

Good point about Kai — I see him mouthing one or two words, but definitely not to a point where I know he knows the entire chorus in Chinese.

I know Suho is mouthing something, but I tihnk it’s the Korean lyrics and not the Chinese ones, but I don’t think we’ll ever be able to figure that out with the ultimately horrible quality of these fans D:

I definitely don’t think Sehun, Baekhyun, or Chanyeol are singing at all whatsoever. Not Korean and definitely not Chinese.

oh yah, forgot to add, in their interview during the beijing showcase, you also notice Kai, Suho and D.O are the only ones who tried to speak some mandarin, that’s why I felt they probably knew a lil bit more mandarin than the other K members~ ^^ BTW, I love D.O’s voice :)

Besides D.O, I think Kai n SH are singing along~ Actually I watched the same fancam you posted in the first link, at 3:56.. in korean, that part is “sou tong haji anikka”, whereas in chinese, it’s “bu zai dui wo jiang hua ma”. u can see Kai mouthing “bu zai” instead of “sou tong”, and the next part is even more telling. in kor, it’s “sarang haji anikka”. mandarin is “bu zai shuo ni ai wo ma”, again, u see kai mouthing “ai wo ma” instead of “an ni kka” the “wo” word is very distinct from the word “ni”, the only person prob not singing is Sehun. Chanyeol is def singing the kor version tho~ Suho, being the leader, I assume he shld know it too? haha..

And I think it’s understandable that Korean companies require foreign artists understand the language and culture if they’re going to debut in Korea; those artists are clearly trying to bank on Korea’s audience. But in order for them to do that, they really need to repay the respect, which they clearly do not :
