Spy Myung-wol, driveby post

I take back what I said before — this drama is not good. I do not recommend it unless you have the patience of a saint and love Eric with 95% of your heart.
But! Dammit this scene makes me wish Han Ye-seul and Eric were acting in a drama that was less whacko, insane, illogical, and repetitive, something with a stronger story, tighter humor, and less manufactured angst. I must’ve watched it at least six times over already.
It makes me wonder how things would’ve gone if they were characters on an Athena-like show, or if Spy wasn’t a comedy from the start but a dramatic series.
I think I’m getting to realize that Eric is a funny actor, but give him too much of the stupid funny and my patience will run thin. Yes, even with Eric. I like him better when he’s dramatic because he does great eye emoting, and you know how much that gets to me.
And the same goes for Han: make her do one too many stupid slapstick scenes and you question your sanity. Some jokes in this drama were hilarious, but then they won’t…stop…doing the same things…over…and over…again, it’s a tell-tale sign of bad writing. I think I’m a pretty forgiving watcher, just not a very forgiving critic. There’s always a part of me that hopes a bad drama with good actors will bounce back, so I always stick around to see what happens, even if I know that objectively, bad dramas are bad dramas, no matter how you cut it.
