New doodads: sunglasses, dangly things from Kid Robot that I’m too old for, lipstick that I’m contemplating returning, earrings, skincare from Fresh, Kindle, best Kindle case in the world, books.

I basically bought the Kindle to prevent myself from buying physical books, but I can’t seem to stop. I have been filled with an unstoppable glee lately that I will never have to read for school again and that I can read whatever the hell I want now, so I’ve been buying books non-stop. After I’ve gotten my Kindle. Problematic…?

The cover for Egan’s A Visit from the Goon Squad feels and looks amazing, which is why I bought it in print instead of digital. The pages also feel amazing, as is the typeface used for the text. See, this is why physical books will always be better than electronic anythings.

Also got a bunch of titles from Tuttle Publishing, which apparently is a publishing company started by Charles Tuttle in Tokyo to publish books that span East and West. They have a whole series of amazingly designed books from Japanese authors and Strand Bookstores in New York currently stocks a whole bunch. This was definitely a “judge a book by its cover, and then some” moment for me.

I love your sunnies! On the other hand, I don’t think I can ever get a Kindle. Turning the pages and smelling the scent of freshly printed paper is part of the whole reading package for me. I don’t think the printed word will ever die out.
