This is a plead

Dear two dudes who have the lofty and great profession of being YG’s only stylists,
Can we stop styling while tripping on acid? Is it just too hard to stop throwing all the shit you found at the bottom of your draw onto a piece of clothing? I get that it was really cool and refreshing when you first put dolls together into a circle formation and deemed it a “bracelet” and then let CL wear it on stage, but maybe we should stop at one toy-strung-bracelet.
I know that you guys (or one of you guys) went to Central Saint Martins for ~fashun~ and ~design~ but can we stop with this shit? Can we stop trying so hard?

If this was Big Bang’s new concept I would be enraged, but considering this is for the Lollipop stuff I can let it pass. I agree that some of YG’s latest styles have been a bit extreme though. It’s like G-Dragon’s cracked out style times a circus divided by a nightmare about childhood.
Gosh Calm Down Its Only For A CF!! Don’t Like it Don’t Post It!! keke
Amy, I usually love what you have to say but this ¨let’s hate on yg styling¨ rant is getting old. I don’t like it either but hey, if I don’t like something, I stay away from it eh?!
Well, I post multiple times on things I do like, so I’m free to do the same for things I don’t, yeah?
And if I don’t like what someone else has to say on something then I don’t bother commenting telling them that it’s getting old eh?!
I don’t think I expressed the idea that you shouldn’t post about things you don’t like because this is your blog and we visit your website because we are interested in your thoughts but you’ve already made it clear, especially on Seoulbeats, how you hate 2NE1/GD/YG styling so yeah, it is an old meme. Now, you get defensive because 2 comments posted, deemed as backlash and ~scary~ from your standards, tell you the same thing (although the second poster’s comment is kind of stannish) : We get it?! Just as you can post about what does not appeal to you ex the YG stylists, which is also a form of interest since you took the time to check/look at the pictures, I also gave out my disappointment, because I’m curious as to what you have to say, over the hopes of you coming up with newer points explaining why you hate it so much but you didn’t and I voiced my letdown.
I’m not sure what you’re reading on Seoulbeats because I’ve written about 2NE1/GD/YG styling … never.
You want me to write things that meet your expectations and I’m sorry that they don’t.
No, I do think you write about things that are interesting and intelligent, that’s why I read your blog! Like I said, do what you want who am I to tell you what not to write about :)
Is Central St Martins world famous? I didn’t know that, my friend goes there. I envy the courses they have. Anyway, the acid trip thing is sortof Lollipop’s thing/theme, I can go with it even if I don’t like it because I’ve loved both the other 2 Lollipop songs/MVs. YG’s stylists are hit and miss though, but they’re hardly alone in kpop sytling/concept terms.
Dear Amy,
You can write whatever shit you want.
Sincerely,
Me
PS. Not saying that you write “shit”. Far from it. At least, TOP looks GORGEOUS. I wonder if Big Bang will ever look “normal” again.
I support this post. You should be able to write anything you want, it’s YOUR blog. Besides, ugly is ugly and I’m glad you’re brave enough to tell it like it is. It’s maddening the amount of hate I got when I post on another site saying how YG artists are trippin’ themselves on the fact that they’re fashionable when in fact it’s so deliberately calculated to be flashy to get press. I do fear their fans coming out of woodworks to defend the artists so I’ll stop now.
I question who give them these kinds of concepts really. I’m tired of their stylists making them wear crazy outfits. But on a side note their attire for the lotte anniversary was onpoint.
Agreed. At first I thought the concept was creative in the sense of almost pop art like fashion. But now it just seems like “must find toys to make into accessories”.
And what were they thinking in that photoshoot? White phone on white background?! Sorta defeats the whole purpose of the promotion.
Yang Seung Ho and Lee Hyun Jung are 2ne1′s stylists. Big Bang’s stylist is JiEun.
I hope you actually read what Coty wrote.
I agree what they wore in the CF is downright distasteful (to me, the whole concept is)but the fact that you are blaming both of 2NE1′s stylist for something they might not have done really irked me. or am I being sensitive here?
First of all, both dudes did go to Art & Design colleges in UK but not to study fashunnn~~ and design~~~. They studied Fine Art and YG decided to take them as stylists after giving them tests along with some other contestants.
Secondly, the people responsible for styling them here (WHOEVER you think it was) did not just pick up shit from the bottom of their drawer and turned them into something to wear. THAT car bracelet happened to be designed by someone else and is being sold in the internet for people to buy and use(duhh). If you want to know where maybe you should find it out yourself, maybe you can start learning to research before you write from there.
Last but not least, I strongly disagree that they are always doing shit with fashion and thus you plead them to stop with it. I don’t think they’re trying THAT hard, have you actually seen all off 2NE1 (I’m talking about them since you’re dedicating the above post to their stylists) outfits in their performances? Yes, they’re bright, colourful and have weird patterns on them but what are hip hoppers if they only wear plain and boring outfits? And they don’t seem to be donning crazy outfits all the time too.
I wasn’t going to comment anything on this initially, I’ve read your other posts about how you dislike what they wore, it’s your blog it’s your right. Making it sound as if those two dudes studied in Central St Martins (and Chelsea College of Art fyi) for nothing annoys me, suggesting what they’ve done so far is shit is beyond me. Therefore this time I can’t help but defend.
Just sharing my opinions. Cheers.
i couldn’t have agreed with you more! They’re pushing their ‘uniqueness’ a bit too far. If BigBang makes a comeback with clothes like that on, I will throw a fit (not that it’s going to do anything, but you get the point :)
