IU’s “Growing Up” is a good album. She has a lot of talent that is completely wasted in the biz. She actually knows music, which is a rarity within the pool of brainkilling idols that she’s always up against. It’s a losing battle because she’ll never shine where it matters. I don’t know why her management dumbs her down to make her more acceptable to the mainstream, because it’s not gaining her any more fans than when she performed music with artistic merit. “Marshmallow” is an insult to her intelligence, especially because she’s capable of something like this:

This:

And this:

Give this performance something on the grand scale of Big Bang’s “Lies” from the 2007 MKMFs and it’d make for an amazing concert performance.

This is an acoustic version from the album:

completely agree, you took the words right out of my mouth.

yeah, I’ve always thought that she and Maydoni were greatly wasted talents http://community.livejournal.com/ohmyshinki/88638.html

Mia mv is scary though :P

amen. she has so much talent and it’s such a shame that she had to resort to songs like marshmallow :l

IU’s a great singer and musician but the problem is that she’s always given, notwithstanding Mia, crap songs to perform. Yes her renditions of Womanizer, Sorryx2 and Gee are fab and she deserves kudos but they’re not her own. They’re by other artists – she just re-invents them. If she came out with her own song that’s on this sort of level she’d be much more famous.

right, they’re not her songs, she’s just re-inventing them, but it’s not like the basis of her artistic merit is only because she can cover songs nicely. her album is full of great mellow stuff that is as good, if not better, than stuff like “sorry sorry” or “gee.” that’s why i said her management is wasting her talent bc i doubt she chooses which of her own songs to perform.

OHHHH Amy I agree. She is too much of a wasted talent especially in an industry such as KPOP that doesn’t appreciate real talent too much. (IMO) Thanks for posting that video of “Womanizer” and the acoustic version of “Mia.” I’m still gushing over them right now.

    Marshmellow is cute, but unfortunate.

Yeah, I also don’t know WTFH is wrong with the management of these companies aren’t they more well established than the other three big companies and have been industry for quite a long time so I would think they would know a thing or two to promote an artist. Also I’m so pissed off at how May Doni’s management promotes her it’s so terrible she barely lasted great vocals and her dancing wasn’t bad either. Ugh anyway shes still young so we still have some time to see what she has in store if not now then maybe later down the road the road to success aint an easy one so if she hangs in there and gets a better company to promote her or if her company starts to take things more seriously than woot woot.
