Will it Snow on Christmas?, episodes 1-4

Just a short drive-by like I always do:

This is a nice contrast to the more slapstick “You’re Beautiful,” which just finished airing as y’all know. It’s a melodrama, which I can appreciate, because sometimes — just sometimes — you just need it to hurt so good. The only type of melodrama I can’t handle from Kpop is the kind that involves some sort of fatal disease, and from the looks of this one, there probably isn’t going to be the oh-my-god-I’m-SO-surprised-I-have-leukemia schtick.

And essentially, I felt the need to jot this post down only because of the two young-in’s who play Go Soo and Han Ye Seul’s characters’ younger selves. THEY ARE SO GOOD. For some reason K-dramas don’t really like doing prime time dramas that revolve around young adults but I would totally watch a 16 episode drama of a romance between those two. And let’s not lie, the boy looks like a better looking version of Key.

The one thing I’m a little worried about regarding this drama is whether or not there’s going to be a satisfactory storyline outside of the romance. I’m a drama viewer that definitely enjoys a healthy dose of the romancing, but I don’t like stories that only have a romantic storyline. I almost always get frustrated with that type of drama at some point (ie, My Girl, Boys Over Flowers). K-dramas that have a substantial plot using only romance as a sort of after-thought or by-product are the ones that stick with me (ie, Mawang, You’re Beautiful).

Hopefully episodes 5 and 6 will continue to be good and who knows, I may recap those as I go along since winter break is coming up.

I’ve only seen the first 2 (DAMN I wish I could read Chinese) but that’s basically what I’ve heard from pretty much every comment I’ve read about it – the 2 young’uns were amazing and a drama just for them would have rocked. So my interest in 3+4 is quite a bit lower but I loved the first 2 eps. It’s shot so pretty too. The thing about Go Soo is that he doesn’t have his younger version’s anger. When he smiles in mischief he’s rather cute and pretty but otherwise he his eyes are these big deep pools of angst that are saying look at my biiig emo eyes. And Han Ye Seul looks like a doll, and her younger version wasn’t especially pretty and it added to her character. I don’t agree with your tastes on everything in drama (I really liked ep15 of YAB and thought most of 16 was a rather nonsensical waste) but how are 3+4 in comparison?

I wouldn’t say episode 3+4 were mindblowing, but I’m going to give it time. It’s expected that once the two main leads reunite the story needs to be set up in a certain way, but I’m not deterred at the moment. I think this is mostly because I LOVE Go Soo’s character and even though I can’t say Han Yeseul’s character is equally as awesome, I really like what they’ve done with the child version so I can be patient.

I feel compelled to recommend the drama “I’m Sorry, I Love You”. It’s from the writer of Will It Snow on Christmas? and it’s my absolute favorite melodrama. And I am a total sucker for melodramas because, like you said, sometimes when it hurts so good it really hits the spot. This kdrama has tons of romantic angst (there’s this one scene between So Ji-sub and Im Soo-jung in the final episode that NEVER fails to make me cry), but underneath there’s a heartbreaking story of an abandoned son yearning for his mother’s love.

If you haven’t already seen it, I think you would like it.

I’ve actually always really wanted to watch that drama but I can’t do with the “diagnosed with fatal disease from the start” type of thing D: Not only because I don’t like that set-up, but because I know I’ll 99% come to love So Ji Sub’s character and would probably die a little on the inside when I watch him fall prey to his disease.

i loved the first two eps! dang, even though the two leads were 7 years apart in age, they had hella amazing chemisty! <3

that being said, i hope eps 3+4 and the rest of the drama are as good as these first two~
