Because 5 things is (way) easier than 43

I like the idea of 43things, but frankly, I can’t list off the top of my head fourty-three goals before it starts sounding like a grocery list of cliches, and the randomness of the number “43″ bugs me. If there are things you think enough about doing, you wouldn’t need a special portal on the internet to jot them down. It’s all there in the brain. *taps head*

Five things I want to do before I die:

Via M. TANIGUCHI

1. Own a house in Hawaii.

Ow. I was doing a search on Flickr for Hawaii photos and it actually hurt me to see how beautiful this place is :( One user aptly titled his/her photo, “I Left a Fragment of my Heart in Hawaii.”

2. Visit New Zealand, and more specifically, go to the sites that were used to film The Lord of the Rings. I think I’ve watched these movies enough times to warrant a magically nerdy visit to the land of Middle Earth.

3. Master Chinese and Korean. Chinese is probably my main goal, and it’ll tickle me pink if I could do Korean too.

4. Work at a place that fosters creativity. Look at that awesome cubical. It’s probably a really nice feeling to wake up knowing you’re gonna go into work at a place you like looking at and like doing work in.

5. Be cool with what I have. Be cool with what I don’t have. Be cool with me.

Tell me yours?

Oh believe me, you forget everything you put on that site, minus the few that are actually important to you. I share your #1, 3 (sort of haha, Japanese and Korean?), 4. I think you seriously have to be a higher level of chill with #5, nevertheless, I admire you for that goal. Self-satisfaction makes life a lot less stressful and a lot more happy.

    01. Go to the Olympics next year (specifically figure skating & snowboarding).
    02. Spend a summer in Maine.
    03. Live some part of my life in a country out of North America.
    04. Surf in Hawaii because Florida waves are too small most of the time unless it’s hurricane season.
    05. Be more adventurous when it comes to trying new foods. I’m still a bit conservative in that aspect.

    Blech… these suck.

3, 4 (although IDK yet about Korean), &5 are promises that I’m making to myself. 3 especially because the thought of waking up hating work is a horrible feeling. I want some place that says hi welcome to work – have fun instead of MAKE PROFITS NOW OK MEET DEADLINES STAT :/

You totally just reminded me that I have an account over at 43 things! Heh. I haven’t logged in in years. Must go check it out. I guarantee I haven’t done 1 thing on my list.

New Zealand is number 1 on my list. For whatever reason, ever since I was a wee tot I’ve imagined NZ as the most beautiful place on earth.
