- I actually think runway shows for a label are a terrible way to showcase the label’s clothing. Because the stylists who style for the shows are always — what’s a nice way to put this? — fuckin’ on crack. They mix and match the worst possible combination of tops, bottoms, accessories, and call it an outfit. I don’t see merit in clothing that isn’t practical and the way most outfits are presented on runways are so unbelievably unattractive that I gape at the fashion industry for always praising every single designer.
- So it’s become more like a task to look at runway shots and have to isolate the good clothing piece from the rest and recognize it for what it is because there are a lot of pieces, individually, that look great. For example, the Louis Vuitton dress above in the left-most shot is really gorgeous, but the outfit makes Missy Rayder look like a 5 foot stump. (Btw, this sock trend? Is so not cool. Either wear ankle socks that stay out of sight under sneakers, or wear knee-high socks for the trend-factor, but any length in between is really, really not flattering on the leg. Also, socks with sandals! Don’t die, Nia.)
- Proenza Schouler’s Pre-Fall collection is lookin’ good. I love those specific outfits because I really like tame bubble skirts paired with dark tights. Really, really love.
- Who would’ve thunk this, but as I’ve grow older, I’ve come to develop a preference for shiny things. I still think a majority of gold jewelry is tacky, but controlled portions of gold, silver and colorful sequins is something right up my alley. (My favorite purchase from 08 was probably these.)
