the girl I'm Amy and it's been a very long time since I've done any legitimate web-related designing/coding/biography writing, so you'll have to bear with me for the duration of this introduction. (The picture of the dude on the left is not me. I only wish my hair were as awesome as his.) I'm currently in college pursuing degrees in nice, academic things like Journalism and East Asian Studies that enables me to feel like a pseudo-scholar, but have hidden passions for graphic design, photography, fashion design, and sociology. I would love to work for a magazine one day--doing what, I care not. Working as a photographer's assistant, working AS the photographer, doing the layouts for the magazine, it all sounds A+ to me. I'd say my niche with design is my strength in working with colors. I love mashing colors together and color palettes that are presented to me in the form of photographic editorials, or fashion editorials--if they have a great color palette--impress me almost immediately. I'd also say that color is the most important aspect of design, even before the actual design sometimes. At the moment (or for the past two years, however you want to count it), I've been neglecting my designing duties for blogging at my Livejournal. I've never been savvy enough to properly install a blog on my domain, so Livejournal is where I hide. And on the topic of using a Livejournal, it is also the outlet for my interest in pop culture. Pop culture is great stuff and I particularly like looking at pop culture through a sociological lens. Asian pop culture is what I'm wading through right now and there's a ton of things to learn and pick up on. I'm of the belief that entertainment is never "just" entertainment for entertainment's sakes. Lots of thinking goes through the creator's mind when he or she is developing this media to present to an audience, and most of it reflects what the creator's view of the world is, no doubt about it. And what I'm interested in is exactly what this view of the world is. So on that note, my pop cultural discussions are at another spot on Livejournal -- popfestfast. But don't be mislead by all my talking, there is quite some spazzing about stuff I'm a fan of, in terms of music and movies. Fan-girling, perhaps. the inspiration These are some images I've hoarded over the years through the internet and through magazine-buying. They particularly intrigue me when I look at them--where I draw inspiration from and where I draw motivation from as well.
